Careers

See why the Boston Globe chose AVEO as one of the Top 100 Places to Work in 2009

Globe 100

AVEO is a derivative of a Latin word that means "to be well".

communityThe concept of wellness defines everything we do – from the research that we conduct, to the policies we put in place, to ensure each of our employees thrive. At AVEO we take it a step beyond the idea of “wellness” by fostering a culture that celebrates the passion for what we do.

That culture is defined by the creative, dedicated and vibrant people that make up our team at AVEO. So it’s our goal to create a positive work environment that supports those team members, promoting their personal growth and professional development every step of the way. That’s because we believe investing in individuals contributes to the wellness of the entire company, ensuring that we can make a substantial impact in the lives of cancer patients.

Fostering a Vibrant Culture: A Key to Being Well

In addition to our commitment to serious science, fun is not only encouraged at AVEO, it is officially sanctioned. We have a “Fun Committee”, comprised of employee volunteers that plans and oversees a variety of activities year-round, including bi-weekly TGIF parties, employee birthday celebrations, holiday-related events and special activities.

AVEO in the Community

We are very fortunate to be located in the MIT University Park, a unique Cambridge neighborhood comprising many different businesses, residences and open green space that together create an exciting urban environment. But we don’t have to stray far beyond our offices to find opportunities to help others in our community.

communityIn conjunction with the neighboring Salvation Army, our employees participate in a variety of activities to help the city’s homeless and underprivileged children. Those efforts include outfitting and donating teddy bears at the holidays, filling and donating Easter baskets in the spring, spending time with children at the day-care center and inviting them  to trick or treat in our offices at Halloween.

In recent years, AVEO has also proudly fielded a team of cyclists in the annual Pan Mass Challenge, a demanding expedition of more than 90 miles that benefits the Jimmy Fund of the Dana Farber Cancer Institute. Each year, at the head of the AVEO contingent you are very likely to find the company’s CEO and president, Tuan Ha-Ngoc—who is as dedicated to the greater good as he is to advancing cancer therapeutics.

In addition to the Pan Mass Challenge, our employees are actively involved in supporting causes such as Rosie’s Place, a women’s homeless shelter, and the Greater Boston Food Bank.
